Charlie Kim is a tour-de-force musician performing as a SAG-AFTRA session singer, pianist, and conductor based in the Los Angeles area. He is praised for expressive vocal versatility, captivating stage presence, and sensitive collaboration from the podium and the piano. His multidisciplinary perspective brings unique dimensions to any artistic endeavor.

As a vocalist, Charlie currently performs as a frequent soloist and ensemble member with Los Angeles Master Chorale and Los Angeles Philharmonic. He has had the honor of participating in ground-breaking projects such as the world tour of the innovative staging of Lagrime di San Pietro by Orlando di Lasso, including recordings like The Sacred Veil by Eric Whitacre, the GRAMMY nominated recording of Girls of the Golden West by John Adams, and GRAMMY winning recordings of Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 and the complete symphonies of Charles Ives.

In the recording studio, Charlie is credited with on and off screen appearances as a vocalist and actor in films, commercials, and video games, including Wicked, Haunted Mansion, Captain Marvel 2, Muppets Mayhem, and several others. His commercial work for the financial company Robinhood received national circulation. He has performed alongside and served as coach/conductor for several A-list names, including Cardi B, JK Simmons, Demi Lovato, Weird Al Yankovich, and Debbie Allen.

Charlie finds himself naturally drawn to the podium where his skill set comes together to bring music, movement, and drama to life. He currently serves as the music director and pianist for Newport Classical in Rhode Island during the summer. He is frequently seen on the podium for prominent musical organizations in Los Angeles such as Pacific Opera Project, Los Angeles Symphonic Winds, Mission Opera, and his passion project, San Fernando Valley Master Chorale. He serves as assistant conductor to Maestro James Conlon with Los Angeles Opera Connects.

Charlie is highly sought as an educator for his ability to musically connect with young and old, novice and aficionado. His tenure as teaching artist for Los Angeles Master Chorale and Los Angeles Opera brings him to schools throughout Los Angeles. He currently serves as teaching artist and adjudicator for youth-based musical organizations such as Southern California Vocal Association and the Spotlight Awards. He is the Director of Choirs and Orchestra at Brentwood School on the west side of Los Angeles.

Outreach departments for Los Angeles-based music organizations send Charlie into the community in venues such as Getty Museum, Autry Museum, Huntington Gardens, Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, as well as to those who need music the most with organizations like City of Hope Hospital and Rancho Los Amigos Rehabilitation Center. He also is a liaison to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs via his work with his community arts organization, San Fernando Valley Master Chorale. He seeks to unify the performing arts organizations of the San Fernando Valley to forge cultural identity and opportunity for the community.

Charlie is a native of the high desert in Southern California. He performed as a pianist and on the musical theater stage in his youth until he went on to study piano performance, vocal performance, collaborative keyboards, and conducting. He received a Bachelor of Music degree from California State University Northridge and a Master of Music degree from University of North Texas.
